Samoset
Resort Golf Club
Rockport
Begin
your golf experience with a course offering breathtaking ocean
vistas and complete your round on one of the best finishing
holes in New England. With the completion of our new 474 yard,
par four 18th, the Samoset Resort continues to be ranked one
of New Englands premier resort golf destinations. Samoset
was chosen as the site for the 2002 PGA Junior Series Event,
the first to ever be held in New England.
Samoset Resort Golf Club is home of Golf Digests Top
Ranked Resort Course in New England, and also was the
magazines choice as the No. 52 Best Upscale Course
in the U.S. Designed by Robert Elder in 1902, Samoset
Resort celebrated its centennial year in 2002. The resort
features some of the most spectacular views of the East Coast,
with a newly constructed granite seawall separating the golfer
from the Atlantic Ocean. Samoset Resort was host to the 2001
New England PGA Section Championship and was a qualifying
event on the former Nike Tour. Recent renovations by the Maine-based
Bradley Booth, featuring what is regarded as the best finishing
hole in the state, have strengthened the resorts reputation
as a premier championship layout.
In
addition to the new 18th, the par-five fourth, Samosets
legendary hole that plays alongside Penobscot Bay, has undergone
extensive enhancements to the green and surrounding area.
The hole now boasts an impressive stone seawall that encompasses
the newly constructed contoured green with added bunkers and
elevation. Coupled with the redesigned 185-yard par-three
fifth hole (formally a par-four), featuring a demanding uphill
slope and a tee box located directly above the seawall on
Penobscot Bay, playing to a heavily bunkered bank to front
sloping green, the golf course has certainly increased its
ability to challenge golfers.
The
renovations to holes four and five coupled with the new 18th
hole and new practice facility shows just how committed the
Samoset Resort is to maintaining our place among the most
elite and prestigious courses in the country, commented
Chris Christie, the Director of Golf.
Samoset
Resort is a golfers paradise located in Mid-Coast
Maine. Ranked the 7th Most Beautiful Course in America
by Golf Digest, the course winds through seaside vistas, woods
and gardens, offering some of the most magnificent views and
formidable holes in golf. The Samoset Golf Course is an 18-hole
championship course that is as challenging as it is beautiful.
